Purpose: The Communion rite is the heart and center – the ritual climax – of the entire Eucharistic liturgy. Everything at Mass is directed toward the moment of communion in which we, fed with his own Body and Blood, are made one with the Lord. Eucharistic Ministers are called to this most beautiful ministry. They have the honor of ministering Our Lord’s Body and Blood to their brothers and sisters during Mass as well as those who are sick and unable to attend. They distribute, along with the priest and deacon, the Body and Blood of Jesus to those present at the Liturgy. We also have some who, after the Mass, take Holy Communion to the sick of the parish that are unable to come to Mass.
