The St. Thomas More Athletic Boosters Club was organized to foster
social growth and enrichment of the children of St. Thomas More
parish. The Boosters accomplish this by coordinating and sponsoring
extra-curricular activities, primarily involving sports related
activities, for the children.
Our coaches for these activities, acting as representatives of the
Boosters club, are required to conduct themselves with the highest
degree of professionalism and Christian ethics. They are required to
follow the policies of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati’s “Decree on
Child Protection”, as well as the policies of St. Thomas More parish.
The code of conduct for the St. Thomas More coaches is as follows:
1. At all time coaches will treat all the student athletes under
their care with kindness and respect.
2. While it may become necessary to correct a student athlete’s
error, it should always be done with encouragement and
positive coaching or teaching techniques.
3. During athletic contests, coaches are required to act in a
professional manner and control their fans. ALL game officials
are to be treated with respect and courtesy. There is never an
excuse for a St. Thomas More coach, fan, or parent to berate,
verbally abuse, or physically confront an official. Any such
action can mean the forfeiture of the right to attend future
contests.
4. The St. Thomas More Boosters encourage competitive
attitudes and the instilling of a winning tradition. However,
participating in a contest should be accomplished with
sportsmanship, respect for opponents, and fairness. A
philosophy of “How You Play the Game” should be adopted
over a “win at all cost” philosophy.
